一、职称怎么翻译

由于中外文化迥然不同，有些职称、职务的名称及等级划分不尽相同，有的虽然名称相同，但内涵却有差异，因此在翻译时一定要字斟句酌，使职称、职位的翻译准确规范。

对于职业和行政职务的翻译是要尽量釆用国际化的标准，能借用的则借用，不能借用的要做具体处理。我国的许多职业和行政职务名称在英语里都有国际上通用的功能等值词可直接借用，如秘书（secretary)、推销员（sales clerk)、经理（manager)、董事长（chairman of board)等。

二、职称、职务翻译时需注意什么

对于带"长"字、"总"字、"主"字的职务名称，大体上都可以用chief，president，head，director，chairman，general等词结合一些词组，进行表达。

1、一些职位名称带"长"字，可选择president，director，head等这类词表示

（1）用president

例如：国家主席president；大学的校长president of a university；银行的行长president of a bank；协会理事长president of an assodation；法庭的庭长president of a court等。

（2）用director

例如：研究所的所长director of an institute；医院的院长director of a hospital；博物馆馆长director of a museum等。

（3）用head

例如：学院的院长head of a college/faculty；中小学校长head of a secondary/primary school；县长head of a county；火车站的站长head of a station；护士长head nurse；厨师长head cook；总教练head coach等。

2、以"总……"表示的一些职位名称，可选择general，Chief等这类词表示

（1）用general

例如：总书记general secretary；总代表general deputy；总经理general manager；总代理general agent；总编辑general editor等。

（2）用chief

例如：总工程师chief engineer；总会计师chief accountant等。

3、带有"主"字的一些职位名称，可选择dean，head，Chairman等这类词表示

（1）用dean

例如：教务主任dean of studies；人事处主任dean of personnel

（2）用head

例如：外语系主任head of the foreign languages department；医务部主任head of the department of medical as ministration；门诊部主任head of the outpatient department；居委会主任head of the neighborhood committee等。

4、采用其他词表示

例如：车间主任workshop manager；客座教授visiting professor；村长village head；税务员tax collector；股票交易员stock dealer。
